Work as part of multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive treatment for children ages 2 to 18 w/autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Assess & evaluate client's physical & mental developmental levels. Devise individualized treatment plans to achieve short-term & long-term goals, including objectives that address sensory-processing skills, visual-motor & visual-perception skills, upper extremity use, gross motor control & daily living activities. Work closely w/special & general education teachers & aides, speech-language pathologists & parents to ensure consistency & concurrence in treatment approaches & generalization of skills in various environments. Complete & maintain treatment records for each client. Conduct assessments & periodic assessments to ensure effectiveness of treatment & client's eligibility for services for funding purposes. Make recommendations for other related services.
Master's degree in Occupational Therapy & licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Ohio. Master's degree coursework must incl. at least 3 mos. of clinical exp. in pediatric occupational therapy. Applicant must have passed the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Exam. Reqs. knowledge & experience working w/children w/ASD & Pervasive Developmental Disabilities. Also reqs knowledge of: gross motor equipment & tools used to address sensory integration; evaluation & assessment tools (Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency-BOT2, Developmental Test of Visual Perception-DTVP2 & Peabody Motor Skills-PDMS); pediatric CPR.
